About Erik van Doorne, DPT, Cert MDT
Dr. van Doorne is the president and founder of Manual Orthopaedic Physiotherapy, a specialized clinic in conservative spinal management and orthopedic manual physical therapy, in Wilmington, DE.
Dr. Erik van Doorne received a BSc. degree in Physiotherapy from the Hanzehogeschool Groningen in the Netherlands. He worked in the Netherlands before he moved to the United Kingdom and later the United States. He received his Doctorate of Physical Therapy (DPT) with distinction from Simmons College in Boston. He has extensive post-graduate training in manual therapy and is currently involved in teaching advanced skilled manual therapy techniques across the United States. Dr. van Doorne is credentialed in Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy (McKenzie), has a certificate in Spinal Manual Therapy and is a certified orthopedic manual therapist. He is a fellow in the American Back Society and the Chief Delegate for the Delaware Chapter of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) in the House of Delegates. He serves as the alternate delegate to the RUC/HCPAC of the American Medical Association and on the Advisory Panel on Reimbursement Policy and Planning of the APTA. Dr. van Doorne is currently licensed in the states of Delaware and Vermont as well as in the Netherlands and the United Kingdom.
Dr. van Doorne is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association, the Delaware Physical Therapy Association, the Orthopaedic, Private Practice, Health Policy/Administration and Geriatric Sections of the APTA, American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapists, the McKenzie Institute and the Royal Dutch Society of Physiotherapy. He is a member of the reimbursement/payor relations committee of the Delaware Physical Therapy Association.
Dr. van Doorne is a nationally recognized instructor of advance post graduate manual therapy courses. He has presented numerous lectures on e.g. manual physical therapy, manipulation of the spine, back-care, lifting techniques, bodymechanics and ergonomics, sports injuries, ethics, negotiating techniques, reimbursement and coding.
