Pins and needles on right side of body

Started by effingnicholas on 02/18/2021 7:47pm

I recently had a lumbar fusion (L5) in November. I have just finished my last post op checkup and the surgeon said all is healed well and looks good. However I am still in quite of bit of “nerve pain” I assume it is. The doctor did not refill my pain medication because he said I should not need it. Luckily my primary care physician did refill it. I find that I take the medicine no where near the amount I used but generally I need it around 4pm and then again at 11pm order to get some sleep. I get almost unbearable pin and needle pain in my lower back and focused on my right thigh and right arm. I cannot seem to get comfortable in bed to fall asleep because of this pain. My question is - is this normal for surgery at the end of October? It’s mid February now. I guess I’m questioning if something else is going on based on my surgeon not wanting to give me more pain meds. I take a total of 4 pills a day. They are hydrocodone/acetaminophen 10-325. The surgeon did give me a prescription for Diclofenac but it doesn’t help and just makes my stomach hurt. I am a 43 year old male. So all this pain stuff has me worried.
