L1 Spinal fusion surgery

Started by Ronandre12 on 03/01/2021 12:03am

Hello all,

I'm new here. Let me begin by telling you a bit about why I'm here
So on September 18, 2020 I was involved in a very bad car accident. Luckily I only sustained a bit of bruising, a seatbelt laceration and a crushed L1 vertebrae. I had spinal fusion surgery the following morning to correct everything.

I was told I'll be down for at least two month and If were to be up any longer than 15 minutes walking around I'd have to wear my brace. I followed my doctors orders closely and soon began PT which I have completed.

I'm about 5/6 months post-op and have been permitted to resume most of my normal life pre-accident of course. Everything feels pretty good except my nagging arthritis in my lower back which has been there the last 3 or so years.

I still have some strange sensations in my back mostly in surgical area and the sensation that bothers me the most is a catching or rubber banding like feeling I get in my shoulder blades when I move my arms in certain directions. I have already consulted the surgeon on this issue and he can't quite explain what it could be other than an issue in the muscles as they may still be trying to heal or a nerve issue. He says it could go away on its own or it may be there the rest of my life. I'm only 27!!!
