Falling down

I had an op, partial lamintomy,L4/5, some relief walked better, THEN several years after, I started to have sudden falls, more like collapses, without warning or symptoms, my balance became totally bad and I most use an electric cart to get around. The really odd thing was a neighbor with same diagnosis had the same thing happen. Medical people have NO answer, has anyone had this happen was it named?
