Surgery for Spondyloptosis

Started by yanavg on 09/29/2010 12:43am

I am 20 years old and have Spondyloptosis. I don't know if I had this condition from birth or if something traumatic happened at a young age. All I remember is that when I was about 9 years old, I began to suffer from lower back pain. Recently, because I'm getting older and the body is going to finish growing soon, I've been told by a Ukrainian and an American doctor that I should seriously consider back surgery asap. My mom told me not to limit my search for the best doctor in the Northwest. She told me to try to find the very best in the world. But I didn't know where to start. Then I came to this website and figured that maybe someone here could help me. I'm sort of confused on exactly what type of surgery specialist I should be looking for. Also, I was hoping that maybe someone here knows exactly the person I should come to for this type of surgery.

Hello I am just now coming across your post…years later…and wondering how you are doing and if you did indeed have surgery? I have 100% slippage and had a spinal fusion in 2002.

Hi hope this message finds you well ;)

I have the same condition here, and I think we're about the same age too! So glad to know that im not alone :) i also stared having lower back pain in the age of 9. I knew I had spondyloptosis recently, and decided to go for surgery in july last year, was hoping to have fusion at L4-S1 but unfortunately the bones have shifted and the implants are now fractured :( Looking for solutions how to rectify it, cos it seems like it's not gonna get better. So yea would love to hear what you have gone through ;)
