Dr. Benglis completed his undergraduate training at the University of Texas at Austin, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Microbiology and attended medical school at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio graduating with honors through the Alpha Omega Alpha society. As a Howard Hughes research scholar at the National Institutes of Health, where he worked in the National Cancer Institute during medical school. Dr. Benglis completed an advanced, two-year subspecialty fellowship in spinal neurosurgery. He, then, completed a neurosurgical residency at the University of Miami in 2011. Dr. Benglis has a particular surgical interest in the treatment of various spinal problems through minimal access.
