About Our Practice

Dr. Chan is an orthopaedic surgeon who specialized in spine surgery and the management of neck and back problem. He was the team head of spine service, consultant and the deputy chief of service of the department of Orthopaedics and Traumatology, Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital from 2004 to 2015, 2010 to 2015 and from 2011 to 2015 respectively. He has worked in Queen Mary Hospital and the Duchess of Kent Children’s Hospital for 13 years from 1991 to 2003 and received orthopaedic and spinal surgery training under the University Hospital there.

Dr. Chan is now a full time private spine surgeon and honorary consultant in Canossa Hospital and United Christian Hospital. He has experienced in

Dr. Chan is now the deputy censor of the Hong Kong College of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He serveed as honorary secretary of the College from 2013 to 2016. He was the chairman of AO Spine East Asia from 2013 to 2016, president of Hong Kong Orthopaedic Association Spine Chapter from 2014 to 2016 and president of the Hong Kong Minimal Invasive Spinal Surgery Society since 2013 until now. He was a pioneer who introduced new innovation and collaborative programs; introduction of percutaneous endoscopic technique in treating lumbar disc prolapse since 2008; set up of the advanced ‘Orthopaedic Minimal Invasive Integrated Operation Room’ and installation of the first O-arm 3D navigation within Greater China region in Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital in 2012; engineered a cluster wise multi-disciplinary integrated screening and rehabilitation training program for patients with back pain, spinal pathology and injury in 2005; to name a few. As a result, more patients received safe and effective treatment and improved earlier.

He is very enthusiastic in training of orthopedic surgeons and public education. He has organized more than 40 local and overseas training courses and conferences, given 90 lectures in academic meetings and presented in 20 mass media interview. He is also the honorary associate professor of the University of Hong Kong and the Chinese University of Hong Kong.
